Call it a diet, call it a lifestyle change. Whatever you desire, I’m going to attempt to lose weight beginning yesterday. I went and bought $112 of healthy food which involved lots of veggies, fruit, and other low fat/diet or low calorie foods like yogurt and such. It’s all in bags in the fridge/freezer/bedroom so that no brothers or parents get into it. I’m poor and can’t afford for everyone to be eating my food.

The biggest obstacle with all of this is cutting out the pop because anyone who knows me knows that in approximately 6 hours I could easily go through 4-8 cans of mountain dew depending on my mood. That is absolutely AWFUL and the source of I’d say 1/2 my calories in a day. It’s BAD. I drink 3 bottles a day at work, stuff like that. So I stopped on Tuesday and haven’t touched it since. I drank water all day yesterday and today we ended up going to arby’s where I looked up the calorie amounts and will be keeping my limit below 2000 today and drank a diet pepsi (ewww but I get my sugar craving without really having my sugar) and no calories as a result. I’ve also bought some propel to get a little flavor in my beverages.

Stepping on that scale and seeing 282lbs as my weight was crushing and I need to do something about it. This is me doing something and it may take time but I can only take baby steps in the attempt to do so. Cutting out pop is my first major goal and I’ll slowly get there.

  1. Definitely do it slowly. There’s so much crap in Mountain Dew. If you wean yourself off of it, you’re less likely to have the withdrawals you’ll have if you go cold turkey. I heard you can get bad headaches and the shakes… but I don’t know. I drink a lot of iced tea, and, when I run out, I just get really bitchy. Water alone sucks when you have sugared down tea. So, yeah. Good luck with your healthier eating. I’ll support you, but I’ll do it while I’m eating french fries. LOL!

  2. Good luck with this! I had a super hard time cutting out soda, so I made it easier and started drinking diet coke (usually the ‘with lime’ version).

  3. You can do it. I’m about seven pounds heavier than you, so we’re pretty close! What is your goal?

Your weakness is soda. Mine is not enough activity. Sigh. You would think that two kids running in two different directions would be enough! :P
