Trying out Yoga
Recently I was given the opportunity to try out a yoga dvd for free. So I thought, hey free stuff and I’ve heard great things about what yoga can do not only for the body but for the mind as well. I’ve certainly had a lot on my plate lately so I figured there’s nothing wrong with trying something new. I could stand to lose a few pounds too.
The yoga dvd that I received was the beginner’s one with Zyrka Landwijt that includes 6 routines, 23 different pose lessons, and 3 1/2 hours of practicing. I think that’s a nice amount for one DVD. They also have intermediate and advanced difficulties for those of you more experienced in yoga. Today I decided to give it a try. It’s arranged into two different sets of routines based on difficulty. Every pose is described, shown, and explained so it’s not hard to grasp. The instructor also gives tips on what you should eat, do, and not do before and after the session. There is relaxing music throughout to keep the atmosphere. Overall I did one of the routines and felt great afterwards. I’m definitely going to be doing the other routine and using this DVD frequently probably in addition to my current exercise DVDs. Over time I think I may purchase the more advances sessions as well.

Yoga, that is still something I want to take a class. I would do the whole DVD at home thing, but I would want peace and quiet at home and I hardly get that since I live with my boyfriend. There is also a great community center near by, hopefully in the spring there will be a beginner class for cheap.
Best of luck on your Yoga and exercise adventures!
