Vista… BE GONE! XP I’m coming back.

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

I’ve been having a lot of issues lately with Vista and I think tonight I’m going to put the effort in and go back down to XP. *le sigh* It’s going to be a crapload of irritating work though. I hate backing up everything and all that but I’m sick of not being able to print, use office, or even use Adobe. EVERY time I try to do any of those I have to wait 5-10 minutes for the program to respond and if I get lucky it will respond. It took me 30 minutes one day to write a letter in word and print it. *headdesk* XP it is. Vista… bye bye. We’ll talk again in the future if I feel like it. My computer should be able to handle you. I have a 2.3ghz dual core processor with 4 gigs of RAM. I hate you.

I’m contemplating finding the resources to build another custom PC and sell it on ebay to see if it warrants any results. If it does, well, that would rock but if not oh well. It’s a risk I’d be willing to take. Mom is looking like she’s going to be getting $1800 when those rebates come through and she’s giving me $100 of it to make 2 visits to Randy and she’s thinking that maybe she’ll buy an HDTV since ours is about 7 years old. I wouldn’t complain of course. If we do we might have to invest in HDMI switches so that we can keep all our devices such as the DVD player, ps3, and anything else we may be buying hooked up to it and can switch in between whatever device we’re using at the moment.

Want to get into the gaming scene?

My household is incredibly electronic. We have 6 computers and they’re all active. I personally own three of those. 2 desktops and a laptop. Add to this we have 2 PSPs, a PS3, 2 PS2s, and the incredibly sought after Nintendo Wii because of the cheap price compared to things like the XBOX360 (not to mention I’ve heard massively bad things about them breaking) or the incredibly expensive Sony PS3. I don’t think we’re in the market for anything else now, except maybe games for each system since our selection is limited on the latest two. At $64/each it’s not easy to build a collection up though. We probably have 5 games for the PS3 and 5 for the wii as well. Sadly for me, only the wii and 3 computers are coming with me when I move but that’s alright since i haven’t even physically touched that ps3.

I’ve also played all 3 systems that are hot on the market and I prefer the wii. It’s not focused on graphics but instead gameplay which to me is what gaming is really about. We’ve also had family game nights where we’ve had bowling tournaments or done wii fitness and actually broke a sweat. It’s a way to get up and moving while gaming, can’t beat that. You can Click Here for a Chance to Win a Nintendo® Wii™! from Charter, a provider of high speed internet. They’re also offering an auction where you can bid to receive high speed internet for lifetime. I’ve never heard of a company doing this but it’s pretty interesting. You need high speed internet for that wii (Well, don’t NEED but it’s nice) to get updates and get online to download games for systems such as the SNES, NES, or Sega. Take a chance, try and get one of these systems which is nearly impossible to find in most stores.

A decision is made

Well I made up my mind and without going into details because a couple other details have surfaced in the past 2 days, I’m not telling him. I don’t really want to completely explain ALL of it because I feel very repetitive but after careful consideration and some opinions from friends whom I feel very close to and trust very much, I think it’s for the best. Considering the circumstances of where he is, where I am, and all of what is going on I think it wouldn’t help anything and if he needs to know it will come out eventually. He doesn’t need this on top of being in prison, if anything it will cause him detrimental effects in his program which needs to be his top priority. If you have a different opinion or want more details, to talk about it, whatever feel free to IM me on AIM: silvergirl0007 or shoot me an email at silvergirl0007@gmail.com I’m open to opinions and different points of view and I’m taking everything in.

Otherwise I just spent a night at Andrea’s and had a lot of fun hanging out NOT around my house for once. I got a night of complete relaxation although some drama surfaced but meh, it’s life. I still had fun and then came home to my new computer which I had to complete putting together and now I’m running Vista with 4 gigs of RAM, a KICKASS video card, and a 2.6 dual core AMD. ;) This computer is totally orgasmic and the fact that I built it from the ground up with no help makes it 10x more satisfying. I’m busy reinstalling all my programs and games now, it’s taking quite a bit. Oh, I got contacts today too and I’m still adjusting. I always feel like it’s not in correctly or backwards, hopefully as time goes on I’ll be more comfortable in them.

I’m so tired right now, *yawn* but I feel that this task at hand is going to be a pain to finish so I’d rather have it done tonight and relax tomorrow enjoying the awesomness.

Is it sunday yet? I need to see Randy… for oh so many reasons and such. I haven’t written him a letter all week because I don’t want anything that I DO discuss (he is getting some of this told to him, not the worst though) to be misinterpreted without me there to talk to him about it. I MUST remember to call Summit tomorrow though. I have to be positive he’s getting a visit this week, I refuse to drive 4 hours each way for nothing.
